Why Your Team Is Burning Out, and What to Fix Before It Becomes Stress Leave, Turnover, or Conflict
A free 90-minute session for the leaders who can feel it building.
No credit card. No commitment. 90 minutes live with Joyce Odidison, MCC.
Helping leaders identify hidden stressors before they become burnout, conflict, or costly breakdown.
Leaders trained across healthcare, education, government, and industry.
A measurement-first resilience platform built to make hidden strain visible, measurable, and actionable.
What your team is telling you, even when they do not use the word resilience
Burnout rarely starts with someone saying, my resilience is breaking down. It shows up in behaviour, decision-making, conflict, and reduced capacity long before it becomes a visible crisis.
When resilience drops, people do not just feel stressed. They think worse.
- They lose perspective faster.
- They misread intent.
- They struggle to regulate emotion.
- They avoid hard conversations.
- They get mentally overloaded by decisions that used to feel manageable.
Burnout is expensive, and what creates burnout starts earlier
Most organizations wait until the damage is visible. By then, leaders are already reacting to symptoms instead of preventing the deeper breakdown driving them.
Stress Leave
Climbing absence numbers and short-term disability claims that drain teams already running lean.
Rising Conflict
The same disputes return in new forms, because the underlying strain was never named or measured.
Disengagement
People stay in their seats, however, the discretionary effort and creativity quietly disappear.
Slower Decisions
Depleted cognition leads to weaker judgment, missed signals, and decisions leaders later have to undo.
Turnover Risk
The strongest performers leave first, because they have the most options when capacity is gone.
Leader Overload
Managers become the emotional shock absorber for everyone else, with nowhere to put their own strain.
You are not dealing with a motivation problem. You are dealing with a visibility problem.
General wellness programs are often too broad. EAP support is often too late. Managers feel the strain, however, they cannot prove where it is coming from. The people at highest risk are often the least likely to opt in.
So leaders spend money, check the box, and still watch the same problems return.
EAP supports the individual employee. WIS® supports the team system. It helps leaders see where resilience is breaking down before burnout, conflict, and mental health strain become expensive workplace crises.
See the resilience breakdown before the crisis
This session introduces a measurement-first approach that helps leaders identify where pressure is building, what kind of resilience strain is showing up, and what to do first. Once you can see the pattern clearly, you stop guessing.
See the early signs most leaders miss
Joyce opens with the resilience pattern behind this month’s burnout-risk theme and shows how it begins to show up in behaviour, communication, and performance.
See the WIS® framework in plain English
No jargon. No vague theory. You will see how hidden resilience signals are decoded and where leaders often misdiagnose the real issue underneath.
Decode a real leadership challenge live
Bring your actual challenge. You can submit it privately. Joyce will walk through what is likely happening underneath the surface.
Leave with one practical next step
A script, boundary, question, or leadership move you can use in your very next conversation with your team.
Clarity you can use immediately
A clearer way to spot resilience strain in your team early, before it shows up in performance reviews.
A simple framework for understanding what is actually driving burnout in your organization.
Language for a hard conversation you may already need to have with someone on your team.
More confidence about what to address first, so your next intervention actually lands.
A smarter way to lead than wait and react when the strain is already visible.
An honest read on whether your current EAP and wellness support is enough for what your team is carrying.
I know this problem from both sides.
I did not build this work from a distance. After more than two decades helping organizations such as Miami University, Treasury Board of Canada, Manitoba Hydro, Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries, Government of Canada, and Government of Manitoba reduce conflict and strengthen resilience, I collapsed on a plane from severe burnout.
That moment forced me to confront something most workplace wellness conversations still miss. People do not burn out only because they need more self-care. They burn out when the underlying resilience conditions around them go unseen, unmeasured, and unaddressed.
That experience changed everything I teach. It led me to build a way for leaders and organizations to detect resilience breakdown earlier, respond more accurately, and stop treating serious workplace strain like a vague wellness issue.
What changes when leaders measure resilience first
These are the results IWS clients have seen when they stopped reacting to symptoms and started addressing what was actually driving burnout, conflict, and disengagement.
IWS was selected as the only non-U.S. firm for a pilot implementation of the WIS® framework across 75 schools in Ohio, in partnership with Ohio State University and Miami University.
“Within four weeks we identified the patterns driving team conflict, stress, and burnout, and started addressing the underlying conditions.”
“I finally understood what was draining my team and where to start. The conversation with my director was completely different.”
“This gave me language I could use immediately in a difficult team conversation, instead of guessing my way through it.”
“We stopped reacting to symptoms and started seeing the real pattern underneath. That alone changed how we plan.”
What every leader needs to understand about resilience
Resilience is not a personality trait
It is a set of conditions that affect how people think, cope, recover, and perform under pressure.
When resilience drops, thinking quality drops
People become less clear, less patient, less creative, and less able to handle complexity well.
Low resilience changes behaviour at work
You see more reactivity, avoidance, confusion, conflict, and disengagement across the team.
Broad wellness support is not enough by itself
If you cannot identify where the strain is building, you cannot target the right response.
Prevention is cheaper than cleanup
It costs less to detect resilience breakdown early than to deal with burnout, unresolved conflict, turnover, or stress leave later.

Before you register
HR leaders, people managers, executives, and team leads who are carrying team strain without a clear system for what to do next. If your team feels more reactive, harder to engage, or mentally overloaded, this session is built for you.
No prior knowledge required. Joyce will walk through the framework in plain English, with examples drawn from real organizational challenges. You will leave with a working understanding you can apply immediately.
Yes, and we encourage it. You can submit your challenge privately when you register, and Joyce will work through it live during the session, so you leave with insight specific to what you are actually facing.
Register anyway. Free registrants receive a session summary. VIP registrants receive the full recording, the Resilience Index Report, and access to the Friday debrief, so nothing is lost if a calendar conflict comes up.
EAP supports an individual employee after they reach out. WIS® supports the team system before crisis, because it gives leaders measurable visibility into where resilience is breaking down across nine dimensions. Most organizations need both, however, the visibility piece is what is usually missing.
Bring the real challenge. Leave with clearer thinking and a better next step.
If your people are exhausted, reactive, disengaged, or harder to lead than they used to be, do not wait for the problem to get expensive before you try to understand it. Join Joyce live. Your first session is free.
