Summer Wellness Tips
The summer months are lovely; with lots of social activities that keep us on the go. These social activities all have food to sample as we socialize and reminisce, causing us to eat new and different things. Much of what we consume includes fruit and vegetables, sweets such as ice cream and cakes; which have a lot of sugar, can cause serious health issues, particularly if your body is sensitive and if your consuming too much of it.
While some foods are great for others to consume, some of us have certain “toxic” foods that cause our bodies to react in strange ways. I love fruits, but more than two servings a day impacts my wellness. A couple of days ago, I peeled a pineapple and over indulged, it took four days for my throat to feel normal again. Though I love pineapple, I have to eat it in moderation and be very careful not to get any part of the skin into my mouth.
One of my big summer “toxic” foods is ice cream. I switched my family to frozen yogurt years ago, and my kids learned to enjoy it just the same. That said, for me it will always remain a treat to have sparingly, so I can keep my system healthy and avoid inflammation.
